A 20-year-old Lamar County man charged with murder and set to go on trial in February has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. Asa Eli-Silvy Coker pleaded guilty to murder in the fatal stabbing and beating of 30-year-old Jason Payne. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison and must serve at least 25 years behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.
