Lamar Electric Cooperative has contracted with Osmose Utilities Services to provide inspection services for distribution poles during the next couple of months. Crews from Osmose will be digging around poles, testing each, and re-treating each.
These crews will begin working in Lamar county around Reno, Madewell Road, Pinhook, Manchester, Blossom, Detroit, and Kiomatia communities. The project timeline will be dependent upon the weather but expect the work to begin immediately and last through March. These workers will have Osmose signs on their vehicles and will wear yellow vests with hard hats.
Inspection and re-treatment of poles are critical functions that increase the pole life and provide more reliable service. Identifying weak or rotten poles in advance of failure allows replacement before failure at a lower cost. It also enhances system reliability.
