Lawsuit Against Former Commerce Police Chief Dismissed

A federal judge in Dallas has dismissed a lawsuit filed against former Commerce Police Chief Kerry Crews. The suit, filed by former Miss Black Texas, Carmen Ponder, alleged that she had been unlawfully detained by Crews. The court reviewed the video of the incident and ruled that Crews had probable cause to arrest the plaintiff. Crews is now a Justice of the Peace in Hunt County.
