The CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-American Cross Country/Track and Field Third Team named LeTourneau University junior Taber Miyauchi (Grand Lake, Colorado) of the men’s cross country team for his combined performance athletically and in the classroom.
He is the fourth CoSIDA Academic All-American in program history and second YellowJacket to earn the honor in 2015-16 along with Taylor Empkey of the baseball team. Past honorees include former baseball standout Damon Stokes, who was a two-time First Team All-American in 2005 and 2006 and men’s soccer standout, Ryan Potter, who earned Second Team All-American in 2006.
Earlier this year, Miyauchi was named the Co-Male Athlete of the Year at LeTourneau University. He led LETU to a runner-up finish at the 2015 American Southwest Conference Cross Country Championships with a third-place finish. Under his third-place finish, he was named first-team all-ASC. He posted four top-five finishes on the season including winning the University of Dallas Invitational. Miyauchi was the team’s top finisher at the NCAA South/Southwest Regional Cross Country meet with a 60th-place finish which is the best finish ever by an LETU men’s runner.
The NCAA Division III national governance structure is financially supporting the All-America® program with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
Among the 46 student-athletes on the CoSIDA Division III Men’s Academic All-America® Track & Field/Cross Country Team, 12 have a 4.0 grade-point average. The 15 members of the men’s track & field first team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.90.
