LeTourneau men’s basketball recovered from a cold-shooting first half to take an 84-68 victory over Rust College on Tuesday night.

The YellowJackets shot just 1-10 from 3-point range in the first half but responded with 54 points in the second half including 11 from Alec Colhoff<http://www.letuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3307> who went 3-of-4 from deep in the period. Colhoff would finish with 14 for the game.

“We didn’t play a crisp and clean game offensively tonight. I think we let our cold shooting effect our overall intensity and we can’t let that happen,” said head coach Dan Miller<http://www.letuathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=436>. “It is good to get to 3-1, but we know the intensity that is coming with ASC play around the corner, and we need to get it right back up. Excited to get back to work with this group as I know they want to be great.”

LETU led by as many 26 during the second half and put distance between the Bearcats scoring 17 points off turnovers and 21 second-chance points. Ball security was key to the win as the YellowJackets had only four turnovers but forced 14 by Rust.

Freshman Nate West<http://www.letuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3318> led LeTourneau in scoring for the second consecutive game as he scored 15 points in 15 minutes off the bench.

Christian Seidl<http://www.letuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3315> poured in 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for another balanced effort. Caylab Herrera<http://www.letuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=3325> was the fourth YellowJacket in double figures with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor. The junior forward also pulled down four rebounds.

LeTourneau enters conference play on a two-game winning streak with four players averaging double-figures. LETU opens ASC games on the road with a Thursday night matchup against Howard Payne at 7:30 p.m. in a battle of the YellowJackets. The men will finish the road trip in Alpine, Texas, with a 3 p.m. tipoff at Sul Ross State.
