LONGVIEW, Texas – LeTourneau University Athletic Director Terri Deike announced Wednesday (Aug 2) the elevation of LeTourneau University head men’s and women’s tennis coach Suzanne Merritt to Senior Women’s Administrator in the LeTourneau University Athletic Department.
“Suzanne Merritt is the perfect fit to serve as Senior Woman Administrator for the LeTourneau University Athletic Department,” said Athletic Director Terri Deike. “Suzanne understands the vision of LETU athletics, is passionate about the success of all student athletes and teams and has the experience to make decisions that will help move our program forward in the campus and community.” “I have enjoyed working with Suzzane in both tennis and fundraising and look forward to the opportunities LETU Athletics will encounter.”
Merritt, who has been with the YellowJackets since 2011, spent one year as an assistant coach before being named the head coach in August of 2012. In addition to her new role, Merritt will remain the YellowJackets head men’s and women’s tennis coach.
“I’m extremely honored to get the opportunity to serve in this position,” said Merritt. “It’s such a privilege to be a part of LeTourneau athletics, and help to grow the culture that Terri Deike has worked so hard to promote.”
As the Senior Women’s Administrator (SWA) at LeTourneau, Merritt will fill in for the athletic director as needed, attend American Southwest Conference and NCAA meetings, serve as an official contact person with the NCAA for LeTourneau, along with game management and tournament administration.
