WOMEN’S GOLF
The LeTourneau University women’s golf team made a four-stroke improvement in Tuesday’s final round of the Linda Lowery Invitational en route to a fifth-place finish.

The YellowJackets posted a 36-hole total of 752 (378-374), nationally-ranked UT Tyler won the tournament with a 657 (329-328). Laura Lindsey of UT Tyler was the individual winner with a 159 (80-79).

“The girls improved their team score today in very difficult conditions of chilly temperatures and wind blowing between 25 and 40mph,” said LETU head coach Walt Williams. I am very pleased with their fortitude.”

LeTourneau landed three golfers in the top 30 including Faith Williams (17th), Sydney Cash (27th) and Melanie Pedigo (29th). Williams shot a 36-hole total of 177 (87-90) to lead LeTourneau. Cash and Pedigo shot a 185 (94-91) and 188 (95-93) respectively. Alisa Wilson was 33rd with a 202 (102-100), and Kaitlynn Conway was 40th with a 274 (144-130) to round out the LETU lineup.

The YellowJackets will next travel to the nearby Tyler Junior College Spring Invitational at Oakhurst Golf Course in Bullard, Feb. 29-Mar. 1.

MEN’S GOLF
The LeTourneau University men’s golf team finished seventh at the Linda Lowery Invitational at Falconhead Golf Club in Austin on Tuesday.

The YellowJackets shot a 36-hole total of 639 (312-327) as host Concordia took the team title with a 620 (297-323). Colin Uecker of Texas Lutheran won the individual title with a 145 (73-72), +1 for a five-stroke victory.

The top finisher for LeTourneau was sophomore Mason Terry, who shot a 156 (77-79) to share 10th-place honors with four others. Terry was strong on par 5 holes with -2 play to go along with 19 pars over the course of the tournament.

Two strokes behind Terry was junior Seth Walters, who made a four-stroke improvement on Tuesday with a 77 to finish with a 158 (81-77), +14. Junior Juan Rodriguez and senior Houston Moore shot a 163 (+19) to share 30th-place honors. Sophomore Daniel Kay finished 43rd with 170 (84-86) to round out the LETU lineup.

The YellowJackets will play for the third-straight week as they will travel to the nearby Tyler Junior College Spring Invitational at Oakhurst Golf Course in Bullard, Feb. 29-Mar. 1.
