WOMEN’S TENNIS
The UT Tyler women’s tennis team defeated LeTourneau University, 9-0 on Friday in Tyler.
The YellowJackets (3-5, 0-2 ASC) were solid throughout the lineup, despite not winning a match.
The Patriots (8-1, 3-0 ASC) did not surrender a set in the win.
The entire lineup battled hard for the YellowJackets in the loss including freshman Lauren Rockwell, who saw her three-match winning streak end at No. 3 singles. The freshman from Tatum dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Alexandra McKissick. The LETU No. 1 doubles tandem of Rachel Morisseau, and Terin Murray lost 8-1 to Mary Alice Blacketer and Tori Musngi.
The YellowJackets will next face Belhaven on Wednesday, Mar. 9 at noon in Jackson, Mississippi en route to its annual Spring Break trip to the Gulf Shores in Alabama.

The No. 27 UT Tyler men’s tennis team defeated LeTourneau University, 9-0 on Friday in Tyler.
The YellowJackets (1-6, 0-2 ASC) were solid throughout the lineup, despite not winning a match.
The Patriots (8-1, 3-0 ASC) did not surrender a set in the win.
Some of the more tightly contested matchups was at No. 3 singles where LETU senior Morgan Weaver dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to Jose McIntyre. Also, another close match was at No. 3 doubles where the LETU tandem of junior Kevin Warren and freshman Zac Crowley-Kurth lost 8-3 to Alex Bouchard and Jake Cunningham.

SOFTBALL
An RBI single in the top of the seventh by Heather Gilbert for UT Dallas was just enough to lead the Comets past the LeTourneau University softball team, 1-0 on Friday evening in Longview.
UT Dallas (10-5, 7-0) ended the scoreless tie in the top of the seventh. With one out, shortstop Kendall Moore doubled to left field for her second hit of the contest. Then, shortstop Heather Gilbert brought in Moore from second on a RBI single, who just got across the plate ahead of the throw.
LeTourneau (4-11, 2-8) put its first two runners on board in its half of the seventh when sophomore Bailey Woodard and junior pinch hitter Kaitlyn Allen was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Then, a sacrifice bunt by junior Whitney Judd moved Woodard and pinch runner Madison Moynahan to second and third, respectively.
The Comets’ starting pitcher Lauren McLeod got out of the jam with a pop out and ground out to secure the shutout win in the series opener. The win for McLeod improves her to 6-2 and for the YellowJackets’ senior Kayla Cosby is the losing pitcher, falling to 3-4.
In the loss, LeTourneau stranded eight base runners and had six-different players with a hit. For UT Dallas, Moore and Gilbert each had two hits to lead a seven-hit attack.
The two teams will wrap up the weekend series with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
