WOMEN’S TENNIS

Freshman Terin Murray posted a victory at No. 2 singles and teamed up with sophomore Rachel Morisseau for a win at No. 1 doubles in a 4-3 loss to the LeTourneau University women’s tennis team to Point University on Thursday.

Murray began the day with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles with Morisseau and proceeded to rally from a one-set deficit to a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. The two wins give Murray a share of the team lead in wins with three in singles and three more in doubles.

The other win for the YellowJackets came at No. 2 doubles where the tandem of Lauren Rockwell and Morgan Weaver were victorious 8-4. Morisseau was nearly victorious at No. 1 singles, losing 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to Luz Padilla.

The YellowJackets will play their third match in three days on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. when they take on host University of Mobile.

MEN’S TENNIS

The LeTourneau University men’s tennis team fell to Point University, 9-0 on Thursday in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

The YellowJackets began the day with three tough losses in doubles. The LETU tandem of Michael McLaughlin and Morgan Weaver at No. 1 doubles and Tyler Grove and Caleb Epps at No. 2 doubles both dropped 8-3 decisions to their Skyhawks’ counterparts. At No. 3 doubles, Robby Bundy and Curtis Martin lost 8-2 to Zach Sheeler and Alonso Trevizo.

Point University won all six singles matches in straight sets, but there were a lot of positives in the LETU lineup. Among the positives were the 6-4, 6-2, loss at No. 2 singles by Tyler Grove and a 6-1, 6-4 loss at No. 6 singles by Caleb Epps.

LETU will play its third match in three days on Friday morning when they take on the University of Mobile at 10:00 a.m.
