Local Baseball and Softball on Tap Tonight Plus Mavs Win Thriller in OKC

Paris – Area teams are scheduled to continue district play tonight pending weather and field conditions. The Paris Wildcats are penciled in to take on the Pittsburg Pirates at Hub Hollis Field. The game can be heard live on 101.9 KBUS. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 7:30. The North Lamar Panthers and Pantherette’s will be on the road for a couple of crucial games as they visit the Pleasant Grove Hawks and Lady Hawks. Softball starts at 6, baseball at 6:30. Prairiland will host Hooks tonight and the Chisum Mustangs and Lady Mustangs host Cooper.

Mount Pleasant – Area teams are scheduled to continue district play tonight pending weather and field conditions. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers and Lady Tigers contest against Pine Tree has been postponed. The make up date is still to be determined. The Chapel Hill Red Devils and Lady Devils travel to Morris county to take on Daingerfield beginning with softball at 5:30. Baseball will follow. The Pittsburg Pirates and Lady Pirates hit the road to face Paris. Softball starts at 6 with baseball at 7:30. And the Paul Pewitt Brahmas square off against the Hughes Springs Mustangs, scheduled for 5:30 and 7.

Sulphur Springs – Area teams are scheduled to continue district play tonight pending weather and field conditions. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats take on the Hallsville Bobcats. At 7-4 the Lady Cats are in 3rd place in district 15-5A Sulphur Springs softball will be on the road beginning at 6pm. First pitch for the Wildcats at home is scheduled for 7. Winnboro baseball and softball will take on Grand Saline at home. Softball starts at 4:30, baseball first pitch is at 7.

And in college softball the Texas A&M Commerce Lady Lions wrap up the regular season on the road with a double header against Oklahoma Christian today. Game times are 4 and 6pm.

Last night in the NBA the Dallas Mavericks even their first round series with an 85-84 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Raymond Felton led the way for the Mavs with a 21 point 11 rebound double double. At one game apiece the series now shifts to the American Airline Center in Dallas. Game three between the Mavs and Thunder is Thursday at 6pm.

The Dallas Stars didn’t fare as well, dropping their game three to the Minnesota Wild 5-3. Despite the loss the Stars still lead the series two games to one in the opening round. Game four will stay in Minnesota tomorrow night. Puck drop is set for 8:30.

And tonight the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros play their first game of the season as they duke it out for the Silver Boot, given to the team with the most series wins at the end of the regular season. The Rangers will send Derek Holland to the hill against former Ranger Scott Feldman. First pitch this evening [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is scheduled for 7:05.
