Paris – Area volleyball action returns tonight with many teams beginning district play. The 14th ranked Detroit Lady Eagles take their 24-1 record on the road against Avery. Rivercrest will be at Clarksville. The Chisum Lady Mustangs are also on the road visiting Chapel Hill in Mt. Pleasant. The Prairiland Lady Patriots will travel to Texarkana to face Pleasant Grove and the Paris Lady Cats are on the road against Anna. North Lamar will host Bonham at Panther gym.

And the Rivercrest will make the short trip to Clarksville.
Sulphur Springs – Area volleyball action returns tonight with many teams in district play. The Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers travel to take on the Como-Pickton Lady Eagles. The Miller Grove Lady Hornets are on the road where they’ll take on class 4A Atlanta. Greenville will be at Marshall. Other area teams will have the night off before picking back up this weekend.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Last night the Texas Rangers come from behind to win a one run ball game. This time 3-2 over the LA Angels. It’s the 46th come back win for the good guys, who have a 35-10 record in one run games. It was Ian Desmond who lifted Texas in the 9th, driving in Elvis Andrus. The magic number is down to three for the Rangers as they take on the Angels again tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch is at 7:05.
The Dallas Cowboys are 1-1 after two weeks into the NFL season, but after a pair of strong outings by rookie quarterback, Dak Prescott, Jerry Jones reaffirms Tony Romo will be the starting quarterback when healthy. Prescott echoed Jones yesterday to the media. The Cowboys will take on the Bears on Sunday night at 7:25 [on 101.9 KBUS].
And yesterday the announcement was made that boxing middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez is out for the remainder of 2016 with a broken right thumb. The injury comes after Alvarez won the 154-pound title over Liam Smith on Saturday night at AT&T Stadium.
