Luke Almost Fired Plus The Dierks Ice Bath In Today’s Nashville Insider

Luke Bryan tells Billboard magazine that his father once threatened to fire him from the family fertilizer business if he didn’t move to Nashville. “He was like, ‘Our fertilizer company will always be here, but you’ll never get your youth again. You’ll never have this time in your life where you don’t have a wife and kids, and chasing your dreams is not that complicated right now.’ Once I got his blessing, it made the decision easier. I was writing two, three songs a day from Monday to Thursday. It didn’t pay a lot of money, so I’d rent a van, and the band and I would drive eight or nine hours to play college bars and frat parties in Georgia. On Sunday, we’d head back to Nashville.”

Luke Bryan tells People magazine that he has no plans to start exercising. “I ain’t gonna give up no cold beer on a Sunday. My diet on the road is a lot better than my diet at home. ‘When I get home, I have all my favorite restaurants that I like to frequent. So when I’m out on the road, you don’t trust new places and try to stay within the confines of peanut butter. You never wanna get on stage with a real full stomach. That never makes you feel confident.”

Dierks Bentley tells Billboard magazine that he takes an ice bath before every concert. “Everything I do revolves around energy management. Out here on the road, you’re trying to find like a 5-Hour Energy supplement without actually drinking that crap — when I get out of the cold water, for the next five hours I feel really super-charged, so I don’t have to have as much of the other stuff to take the energy on stage.” He adds with a laugh, “You can find energy in all sorts of different forms – certainly tonight will be in the form of Red Bull and vodka.”

Tyler Farr recently got a new tattoo on his left arm. The grizzly bear scar tattoo looks as though a giant bear ripped apart his arm. Inked claw marks adorn his forearm.

Kelly Clarkson tells People magazine that she wishes people in Hollywood would be more honest. “I think that sometimes Hollywood can be very ‘Oh, we don’t want people to see what we really look like. That’ll be the death of you or something.’ And it’s like, ‘Whatever!’ Everybody Poops. Everybody burps. Everybody’s the same.”

The guys in Florida Georgia Line tell Billboard magazine that they want to record with Bruno Mars. ”He is one of the best in the game in our opinion. Any time we get to collaborate…it’s not only for them, it’s for us and it’s to learn and to grow and to try to better yourself. There’s a lot we could learn from Bruno.”

Billboard Magazine claims tonight’s CMT Awards will feature the following performances.

Darius Rucker feat. Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Charles Kelley – “Straight to Hell”

Dierks Bentley feat. Brothers Osborne – “Burning Man”

Florida Georgia Line – “Simple”

Kelly Clarkson – “American Woman”

Little Big Town – “Summer Fever”

Sam Hunt – “Downtown’s Dead”

Backstreet Boys – “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”
