Luke Bryan On Idol Judging Plus Urban Kicks Himself In Today’s Country News

Luke Bryan tells Billboard magazine that he imagines himself as a Nebraska farmer when he is judging American Idol. ”I try to be a well-rounded music listener and certainly a music artist. But I think I can be the voice of your Nebraska farmer out there sittin’ at home watching Idol. There will be times too that some of the people that have stereotypes that may have a preconceived notion of what I may say, I may totally blow their mind because I may surprise you on some stuff. I think as the show goes on, my character on that show will develop even more.”

Jordan Davis tells CMT that his parents were both musicians. ”My dad wrote songs growing up. He’d walk around the house, playing guitar, and my mom was an incredible pianist. She played piano in the church. My uncle, Stan Paul Davis, is also a songwriter. He wrote a bunch of Tracy Lawrence hits including “Today’s Lonely Fool.” When you walked into our house, there was some type of music going. It was always around us.”

The Chicago Tribune asked Thomas Rhett how he came up with his stage name. He said; “I think Thomas Rhett is easier to say. Thomas Rhett Akins doesn’t sound like a rock star name. I didn’t leave Akins out to convince people my dad wasn’t my dad. I’ve always been called Thomas Rhett. I didn’t want to get rid of it.”

TMZ claims Taylor Swift’s stalker Frank Andrew Hoover pled guilty to violating his protective order. He was sentenced to ten years’ probation yesterday and will be monitored by GPS for the first year. Hoover, who sent threatening messages to Swift’s family, must complete psychological testing, attend substance abuse classes and stay a mile away from Swift and her family.

TMZ claims Ed Sheeran is seeking to have Sean Carey and Beau Golden’s lawsuit against him tossed. Sean and Beau claim Ed stole the idea for his song, “The Rest of Our Life”, from their 2014 song, ”When I Found You.” Tim McGraw and Faith Hill recorded Ed’s song.

New Idea magazine claims Keith Urban may have made a mistake when he left ”The Voice Australia” for ”American Idol.” A source tells the Aussie magazine; ”Leaving The Voice and going to American Idol was one of the biggest mistakes Keith has made in his career. He really thought at the time that leaving The Voice to take on American Idol would be his big move in Hollywood, and his huge chance to really make it on US TV – but it’s all backfired. The fact that he wasn’t invited back to the rebooted version of Idol made him feel like a bit of a failure. And seeing now that Katy Perry earned almost 10 times what he did for going on the same show, he feels that’s a real kick in the guts.”

TMZ claims Blake Shelton’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani is launching her own cosmetics line called P8NT as in ‘paint.’ The line will include nail polish, hair color, eyeliners, powders, perfumes, lipstick, and sunscreens.
