Kelsea Ballerini tells the Nashville Business Journal that the “Wizard of Oz” theme is her favorite song. “Somewhere Over the Rainbow, it’s just classic, and it’s stunning, and it’s perfect. And timeless. I think when you can write a timeless song like that, then you’ve accomplished everything.”
Chase Rice tells The Daily Tar Heel that playing college football taught him important lessons that he applies to his music. “Through my athletic time at Carolina especially, it taught me to fight through the big boys who are coming for your spot or don’t want you there, forget about that, focus on myself and focus on what’s best for me and my team. And nobody can really stop me if I just focus on what I have to do to be the best that I can possibly be. I had awesome people around me to teach me that. My coaches … they taught me all that stuff that I still use every single day while I’m making music.”
Brett Young tells Billboard magazine that it was a challenge writing sad songs for his newest CD, “Ticket to L.A.” “Something that I learned over again is that people love sad songs. And the reality is that there are more heartbroken single people out there than there are people that are experiencing happily ever after. Having relearned that with the first record, it was important, because now I’m going in at this completely different place in my life where I’m sickeningly happy. It was a good reminder that you can’t write a whole record full of 13 happy songs. When [you’re not writing about] what you’re living, your existing reality, you have to draw from other places. So it really challenged me as a writer.”
Nicole Kidman tells Woman’s Weekly Magazine that she and Keith Urban were desperate to have kids when they met. “I had spent my whole life trying to get pregnant. [Keith and I] both were desperate to find that person [to have children with]. We’d also reached that place of going, ‘Gosh, I wonder if it’s ever going to happen.’ You can’t really get kids into anything, I’ve realized. You can push them a bit, but motivation is a really hard thing. I mean, nobody motivated me to be an actor; if anything they tried to deter me.”
