Firefighters from virtually every department in Hopkins County, as well as mutual aid from Delta, Lamar, and Franklin counties and the cities of Commerce and Sulphur Springs responded a major fire Monday at Berger (bear – jay) Horticultural Products on Hwy 19 north of Sulphur Springs. Fire officials say the plant was pretty much destroyed by the blaze, and equipment in the main building was also lost. Traffic on Hwy 19 north was diverted for several hours during the fire. One Firefighter suffered a minor injury battling the blaze and transported himself to the hospital for treatment. There were no signs of foul play, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
