Major Lobbying Effort For Texas Casino Gambling

A casino powerhouse is doing everything in its power to legalize gambling in Texas. The Las Vegas Sands will run ads to convince state lawmakers to pass a bill allowing for four destination casinos in our biggest cities. Rice University political scientist Mark Jones says they’ve paid more than 50 lobbyists about $5 million. But Jones says Lt. Governor Dan Patrick will hold firm to the same position for over a decade. That’s no to gambling. He says if this ever made it to the ballot, Texas voters would pass it overwhelmingly.
