Major Storms Sweep Through Lamar, Red River and Choctaw Counties

For the second time in four days there was major flash flooding in Paris.

Widespread damage in Hugo from a reported tornado.

Lamar County and the City of Paris as well as other areas of Northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma were hard hit by tornadic storms that roared through the area late Monday afternoon and Monday night. 2 people are confirmed dead in Oklahoma, and there was extensive damage in Hugo. Numerous Tornado and Thunderstorm warnings were issued and large hail and flooding was a major problem throughout Paris. Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley said there were several high water rescues.

Lightning from the severe storms that roared through Lamar, Fannin, Red River and Choctaw counties last night could be seen in downtown Dallas – more than 100 miles away. Tornado, severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings were issued throughout the evening. Dozens of high water rescues were reported throughout the area. A suspected tornado caused severe damage in Hugo. Lots of rotation in the storms was caught on radar throughout Lamar County and other areas of Northeast Texas.
