Just before jury selection was to begin for the trial of a Commerce man accused of attacking a Hunt County deputy, the defendant changed his mind and decided to plead guilty to the charge. Quincy Allen Kinchen had earlier pleaded not guilty to retaliation against a public servant. Kinchen was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Prosecutors were seeking to charge him as a habitual criminal, and he could have faced up to 99 years in prison.
