Man Guilty Of TAMU-Commerce Murders

Jacques Dshawn Smith of Rowlett has pleaded guilty in Hunt County District Court to the murders of Abbaney Nicole Matts and her sister, Deja Monica Matts, in a Texas A&M-Commerce dorm room in February of 2020. Deja was a student at the university, and Abbaney had dated Smith before the murders. The court sentenced Smith to life in prison plus 35 years.
