Man Involved In Academy Sports Standoff With Police Sentenced

An East Texas man involved in a standoff with Longview Police at Academy Sports in 2015 has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. Nathan Lanacik, 37, pleaded guilty to two counts of Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant. Lanicek, who was armed with an M4 rifle, had stolen ammunition and explosives from Academy before trying to escape by the rooftop to a nearby Best Buy. He was shot in the throat during the incident, but no officers were injured.
