A man who led State Troopers on a high speed chase Tuesday morning through several counties was captured at about 4:15. The pursuit began after Austin Hill was stopped for a traffic violation in Kaufman County and the chase continued through Van Zandt until it finally ended in Smith County when the tires were spiked and Hill bailed from his vehicle and fled on foot. A female passenger in his vehicle was also arrested. Hill allegedly hit several vehicles during the chase. A DPS helicopter and TDCJ – K9 search dogs assisted in his capture.
