Many Texas Jobs Remain Unfilled

UT Tyler Research Analyst Dr. Manuel Reyes says almost two jobs are available for every person employed. He added that this is due to the number of workers retiring early and younger workers turning to alternative incomes, like social media. Another reason is that required skills have changed since the pandemic. The number of women in the workforce also shrunk after COVID because they are not getting back into the labor force because of the high cost of child care.
