Marlins Clobber Rangers Plus 11 Days Till HS Football

Area high school football teams are 11 days away from start two-a-day practices. Teams will have a week and a half’s worth of practice days before their first scrimmages on August 18. The regular season begins with week one on September 1.
As the trade deadline approaches Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish has a tough outing as Texas falls to the Miami Marlins in a wild game, 22-10. Darvish allowed a career high 10 runs in only 3.2 innings of work. Adrian Beltre had a big night going 3-for-3 on the evening. Beltre was ejected in the 8th by crew chief, Gerry Davis, for standing where every other batter in the league stands on deck. The Rangers drop to 48-52 on the season, 4.5 out of a wild card spot.  Texas will have the day off today before starting a weekend series with the Baltimore Orioles.
The Dallas Cowboys strapped on pads for the first time at Training Camp in Oxnard, California. Cowboys head coach, Jason Garrett, noted in his daily press conference that linebacker, Jaylon Smith, would be limited in his first contact football since his knee injury 18 months ago and will be given the day off today. Quarterback Zac Dysert traveled back to Dallas after rupturing a herniated disk in his back. Recovery time is eight to 12 weeks, likely ending his tenure in Dallas.
