Mastercard To Stop Allowing Automatic Billing After Free Trials End

Mastercard announced this week that they’re going to stop allowing businesses to automatically bill you after a free trial you sign up for ends. Instead, Mastercard will require that businesses get an official authorization, sending you an email or text notification before the payment is due. The message must include the transaction amount, payment date and explicit instructions on how to cancel your trial. The same will be true for the payments going forward, with you having to be messaged before renewals to get authorization.
