An Army base and an Air Force base, both in Texas, have been chosen to house detained illegal immigrants. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis confirmed the bases to be used are Fort Bliss in El Paso and Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo. Unaccompanied children would be sheltered at one of the bases, families of migrant detainees at the other. The Defense Department would provide the land but the operations would be run by other agencies.
