Miranda Lambert tells the Chicago Sun-Times that she is working on a new album due out in the Fall. “I would call it old Miranda, but a Miranda at a whole new level, if that makes any sense. I made a career on being a rock and roller and I think fans are going to hear that throughout. And yeah, there is this vibe of being happy that goes through this album. I am really, really happy.”
Granger Smith says he and his family are planning to go on tour. He hopes being on the road will help him and his wife deal with the loss of their 3 yr old son. “I’m still going to do music. I’m going to go back on tour next week, and I’m going to bring them with me. I don’t think that’s the best place for me to be right now. A) It’s gonna be strange if we have to talk about River, and B) it’s gonna be even stranger if we don’t talk about River. So I think it’s best for all of us… until I get my head straight.”

Runaway June star Naomi Cooke tells Billboard magazine that Alison Krauss is her greatest musical influence. “She is my absolute favorite artist. I was taking some classical lessons from some really close family friends. A friend of the family ended up buying me the O Brother, Where Art Thou? the soundtrack and I remember hearing her was a distinctive moment in my decision as to what I wanted to do with my career. That soundtrack with her, Gillian Welch, and Emmylou Harris was a new sound that I wasn’t used to. It’s where I took a turn in my life. It’s what got me started to singing country.”
Maren Morris tells Playboy magazine that she posed for their latest issue because Dolly Parton once posed for the magazine. “I remember Dolly Parton’s amazing Playboy cover and reading about the drama surrounding this wholesome figure being part of a magazine that has showcased naked women for decades. It was such a faux pas in country music, and yet she ended up making one of the most iconic Playboy covers of all time. Not many other country artists have done that.”
She adds, “I was intrigued because so many of the moves Dolly made in her career were about bucking the status quo, especially when it came to sexuality and gender norms within country music, as a woman in country music–as a woman in any genre–it always fascinated me. So when I heard this magazine wanted to interview and photograph me, I thought, Okay, I’ve seen a lot of wonderful spreads you guys have done with artists I love, such as Halsey, so what the hell?”
Miranda Lambert tells the Chicago Sun-Times that she likes Maren Morris’ Playboy layout. “Maren is hot, so I say good for her. Hey, us women, we are doing something right. Let them keep blogging and putting us on magazine covers. We must be important enough to keep talking about.”
