MLB Playoffs Plus Niners Remain Unbeaten In Today’s Sports Update

 

Prairiland will host Mt. Vernon. The Lady Pats are 2-0 after losing their district opener. Chisum travels to Commerce. Clarksville hosts Rivercrest. While North Hopkins is in Detroit. Paris has the night off.

ESPN’s Todd Archer is reporting Cowboys Offensive tackle, La’el Collins could be out until after the bye week. Collins injures his leg in Sunday’s loss to the Packers. Dallas is at the New York Jets this Sunday afternoon.

Last night on Monday night football the San Francisco 49ers thoroughly embarrassed Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns 31-3.

San Francisco ran for 275 yards. Mayfield was only 8 of 22 for 100 yards passing. He threw two interceptions and was sacked four times.

In baseball, the Yankees moved to the ALCS after completing a three-game sweep over the Minnesota Twins. They’ll play the winner of Houston and Tampa Bay. The Astros lead that series 2-1.

In the national league, both series are heading to Game 5 on Wednesday. St. Louis beats the Braves 5-4 in 10 innings to extend their series while the Nationals crushed the Dodgers 6-1.

And the Dallas Stars will try to get their first win of the season as they play the Washington Capitals on the road tonight. Dallas is 0-3 on the season.

In Major League Baseball, The Tampa Bay Rays beat Houston 10-3. Houston leads the series 2-1. The St Louis Cardinals evened their series at two games each, after dramatic 5-4 win in the bottom of the 10th.  The Washington Nationals upended the LA Dodgers 6-1 to push their series to a Game 5. And the NY Yankees closed out the Twins with a 5-1 win.

Here is the MLB Schedule: Today, it’s Houston at Tampa Bay at 3:15 pm on FS1. Then, on Wednesday it will be St Louis at Atlanta for game 5 at 4:02 pm on TBS. Then the Nationals head to LA for a 7:37 start on TBS.

Lincoln Riley found a way to handle the Horns Down controversy that has lingered in the Big 12. Asked Monday how he’ll address the issue with his team for Saturday’s Red River Showdown between No. 6 Oklahoma and No. 11 Texas at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Riley simply said, “Our players won’t do it.”

In Monday Night Football, the San Francisco 49ers remain unbeaten after a 31-3 win over the Cleveland Browns.

The Tennessee Titans have cut placekicker Cairo Santos a day after he missed four field goals in a 14-7 home loss to the Buffalo Bills. Santos missed a 50-yard field goal in the second quarter as well as a 36-yard attempt with 49 seconds left in the first half. The Bills blocked a 33-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter and Santos later missed a 53-yarder.

The New England Patriots released veteran tight end, Benjamin Watson, as his roster exemption expired at 4:00 pm. ET on Monday, making him a free agent. Watson had returned from a four-game NFL suspension last week.
