Playing its third consecutive game and fourth this weekend against a ranked opponent, the Texas A&M University-Commerce fell 3-1 in a tight contest on Sunday morning against No. 21 ranked Maryland at Getterman Stadium to close out the Baylor Invitational. They head to Tucson, Arizona, next weekend.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcat Boys Basketball team won the Area Championship Friday night with a 56-44 win over Wilmer Hutchins. The Wildcats are in the Regional Quarterfinals with a game against Dallas Pinkston Tuesday night at Rockwall Heath at 7:00 pm. The winner will advance to the Regional Semifinals. Friday night’s victory was the 100th career win for Wildcats Head Coach Brandon Shaver.

The Winnsboro Lady Red Raiders pulled away from the Chapel Hill Lady Red Devils Saturday afternoon to claim Region II Class 3A 56-36. Winnsboro (31-8) now takes on Fairfield (38-2) at 1:30 pm Thursday in the Alamodome, San Antonio, for the Semifinals. The winner will face either Holliday or Columbus in the final match for the 2023 Championship.

The undefeated Mt Pleasant teams ran into a wall. The girls lost to No. 7 Liberty 41-30, while No. 21 Forney handed the guys the first loss of the season with a 56-53 victory. Jefferson took care of the Chapel Hill guys in overtime, 39-34. The teams also eliminated Cooper, North Hopkins, Clarksville, and Sulphur Bluff.
