Patrick Mahomes said during the week that the most disappointing loss of his career came in Super Bowl LV following the 2020 season when the Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mahomes said that after the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night, that defeat now has company.

Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont acknowledged fans’ frustration following the shocking decision to trade franchise superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers while still defending the move and making clear there are no plans to relocate the team from Dallas.

The Vancouver Canucks announced Sunday that defenseman Quinn Hughes will not play for the United States in the Four Nations Face-Off due to injury. They are replacing him with Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson.

Due to inclement weather, the East Texas A&M Leadoff games on Sunday, including the East Texas A&M University softball team’s game against South Dakota State, were canceled. The Lions are next in action on Friday. They are hosting the Lion Invitational and will face off against Rutgers at 2:30 pm and Iowa at 7:00 pm.

SOFTBALL

After falling behind 5-4 entering the bottom of the seventh, the East Texas A&M University softball team walked off Texas Southern, 6-5, to split Saturday’s action. They fell 5-2 to South Dakota earlier in the day. The Lions are 2-2 on the season, Texas Southern fell to 0-4, and South Dakota is 3-1.

COLLEGE STATION -Two top-three finishes on Saturday highlighted the Charlie Thomas Invitational for the East Texas A&M University track & field teams at the Fasken Indoor Track & Field complex.
