Scoring first in both games, the UIW Cardinals took both ends of Friday’s doubleheader by scores of 2-0 and 17-3 in five innings over the East Texas A&M University softball team at John Cain Family Softball Complex. The two teams close out the series at Noon on Saturday. The Lions will honor all alums in attendance before the game and hold the annual Easter Egg Hunt following the game.

East Texas A&M University soccer coach Ashley Gordon has announced the signing of Payton Joost (yowst), a transfer from Lamar and Louisiana Tech, for the 2025 season.

TRACK

Anete Randma (ah-NET-tah / RAND-ma) added another school record to her name for the East Texas A&M University track and field team this season as the Lions participated in the 44 Farms Team Invitational at Cushing Stadium on Friday.

FOOTBALL

The 2025 spring season came to a close for the East Texas A&M University football team with the Blue & White Spring game hosted on Saturday inside Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium. The Lions hosted 15 practices during the spring, culminating in the spring game on Saturday. East Texas A&M now looks ahead to beginning the 2025 season on August 30 at SMU.

According to a family member, former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy passed away at 24 in Houston. His death is a suspected suicide. A spokesperson for the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said the death occurred early Sunday morning, April 13. Lacy was arrested earlier this year on charges related to a deadly hit-and-run crash.

HIGH SCHOOL

The Highland Park Scots had to forfeit their first-ever state boys’ soccer title. They used an ineligible player during the team’s Friday night 2-0 win in the championship game. Liberty Hill was named 5A Division II state champs.

La temporada de primavera de 2025 llegó a su fin para el equipo de fútbol americano de la Universidad East Texas A&M, con el juego de primavera Blue & White organizado el sábado dentro del Ernest Hawkins Field en el Memorial Stadium. Los Lions organizaron 15 prácticas durante la primavera, culminando con el juego de primavera el sábado. East Texas A&M ahora espera comenzar la temporada 2025 el 30 de agosto en SMU.

Según un miembro de la familia, el ex-receptor abierto de LSU, Kyren Lacy, falleció a los 24 años en Houston. Su muerte se sospecha de un suicidio. Un portavoz de la Oficina del Alguacil del Precinto 4 del Condado de Harris dijo que la muerte ocurrió la madrugada del domingo 13 de abril.
