The Philadelphia Eagles (3-4-1) took control of the division with their second straight victory with a 23-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is now (2-6) has lost three in a row.

HIGH SCHOOL

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches recently released its 2020-2021 preseason rankings for the upcoming season. Mt Pleasant received its highest in the Joey Chism era at No. 16 in Class 5A. It is the first preseason ranking since ranked 25th in 2016-2017. Mt Pleasant’s first game is a scrimmage on Saturday (Nov 7) at Lindale. Nov 9 is their first home game. The Tigers’ season opener will be at Liberty-Eylau on Nov 17, and their home opener will be Nov 20 versus the Oklahoma City Storm.

Sulphur Springs tennis team made the playoffs but lost to Whitehouse in the Bi-District round last week. The Wildcat Cross-Country had the girls placing first at the District Meet, which is possibly a first in school history. Sulphur Springs Volleyball swept Texas in three and move into first place in district play. They defeated Marshal Friday 3-0. There will be a volleyball playoff at Sulphur Springs gym tonight at 7:00 between Lindale and Community.
