Monday’s Sports

Zaveion Okoh had a career day on Friday, posting a team-high 27 points and connecting five three-pointers in a win over the Lufkin Panthers at the Jasper Venture Games at Whitehouse. He also posted seven rebounds and six steals. Through two games, Okoh has led the Tigers in scoring, averaging 25 points per game in the process. With the wins, the Tigers moved up one spot in the state rankings to 14.

NFL

The NFL just moved through one of the most eventful weekends in recent memory, as it managed a COVID-19 outbreak in Baltimore, the sudden loss of all four quarterbacks in Denver, and the unexpected three-week closure of the 49ers’ stadium and practice facility. The league’s playoff picture, meanwhile, remained remarkably unchanged. The Giants and Titans jump into the division leads.

NBA

The NBA said Saturday that the delayed Hall of Fame weekend at Springfield, Massachusetts, will be held from May 13-15. Bryant, Duncan, and Garnett, with a combined 48 All-Star Game selections and 11 NBA championships between them, were the class’s headliners that they announced last April. They all got into the Hall in their first year as finalists, as did WNBA great Tamika Catchings.
