More HS Baseball and Softball Plus Tolleson Blows Another Save

Paris – The North Lamar Panthers and Pantherette’s continue their contention for a state title in baseball and softball. The Pantherette’s will meet Krum in the regional semi-final round starting with game 1 tomorrow in Prosper at 7pm. Game two is Friday in Bonham at 7 and game three, if necessary, is 4pm on Saturday back in Prosper. All games will be carried on MIX 107.7. North Lamar baseball will face off with Athens in the regional quarterfinals on KOYN 93.9. Game one is tomorrow at 6:30 at Lindale. Game two is Friday in Sulphur Springs at 6:30. And game three is back in Lindale on Saturday at 2pm, if needed.

Mount Pleasant – More results from the State Track and Field Meet in Austin over the weekend, Chapel Hill’s Michae’lann DiMaggio brought home a silver medal in the triple jump, while Will Phillips finished 6th in the 3,200 meter run.

The Pittsburg Pirates advance to the regional quarterfinals of the High School Baseball Playoffs. They’ll take on district Rival and 15-4A Champion, Pleasant Grove. Game one of the best of three series is tomorrow at Pleasant Grove at 7pm. Game two is Friday at Pittsburg at 5. Game three would follow, if necessary. All Pittsburg Pirates playoff baseball games can be heard live on Star 96.9.

Sulphur Springs – District 15-5A softball superlatives have been released and 11 total Sulphur Springs Lady Cats were recognized by district coaches. The offensive player of the year award goes to second baseman Hannah Crowson. While freshman Brinkley Driver was named co-newcomer of the year. First team honors go to third baseman Kristen Allen, first baseman Sarah Womack, catcher Molly Johnston, center fielder Alyssa Abron and left fielder Sadie Stroud.

And the Sulphur Springs Wildcat football team spring practice picks back up today after facing Gilmer in 7 on 7 competition yesterday. Spring practice goes until May 26th.

Last night the Texas Rangers fall to the Oakland A’s 8-5 on a walk off Grand Slam by Khris Davis. The game ending blast came off Rangers closer Shawn Tolleson, who now sports an 0-2 record with four blown saves and a 9.20 ERA. Texas will wrap up their trip to Oakland today [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm.] First pitch this afternoon is set for 2:35pm Central time.

In the Eastern Conference Finals the Cleveland Cavaliers dominate game one over the Toronto Raptors 115-84. LeBron James notched 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Game two is tomorrow, while the Western Conference game two is scheduled to be played tonight at 8pm. OKC leads the series over Golden State 1 game to none.

The NBA Lottery Draft was also last night with the Philadelphia 76ers drawing the top pick in 2016. The Los Angeles Lakers will pick 2nd.

And in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs the San Jose Sharks shut out the St. Louis Blues 4-0 to even the west finals at 1 game apiece.
