This coming Monday morning officially starts the beginning of the 2016 high school football season in Texas. Local teams who did not have padded spring practices make their way to the field for two-a-days. Teams across the state who did practice with pads during the spring will begin the following week. The season officially kicks off with the first games on August 26th.

Last night the Texas Rangers beat the Kansas City Royals for the third straight game, this time 3-2. Mitch Moreland smashed two solo home runs, including the go ahead blast in the 8th. Cole Hamels picked up his 12th win going eight innings giving up two runs on six hits and striking out 12. At 59-44, Texas will play game two of four tonight against Kansas City. First pitch [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05.

The Dallas Cowboys landed in Oxnard, California yesterday evening to begin training camp. Today, players and personnel will meet, playbooks will be passed out and, of course, press conferences. Practice officially begins tomorrow afternoon.

After the first round of The PGA Championship, Jimmy Walker leads the pack at five under par, shooting a 65 on the day. Round two from Springfield, New Jersey begins this morning and will conclude with round three on Sunday.

And the Major League Soccer All-Stars fall to Arsenal from the English Premier League 2-1. Joel Campbell and Chuba Akpom scored for the Gunners. Former Chelsea star, Didier Drogba, netted the lone goal for the MLS.
