MPISD band students selected for Middle School All-Region Band

Five Mount Pleasant Junior High School band students and one Wallace Middle School band student have qualified for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region IV Middle School All-Region Band. Three students earned chairs in the Symphonic Band and three in the Concert Band.

Two students earned 1st chair, practically 1st place in their category, in the Symphonic Band: Kaylee Ramos on Bass Clarinet and Adriel Bagsic, a 6th grader at Wallace, on Trumpet with Anthony Cabrera earning 1st chair on Euphonium in the Concert Band.

“I am so proud of all the MPJH students who auditioned for the All-Region Bands,” said MPJHS Band Director Karen Luckett. “Due to COVID-19, students had to record their audition and submit it to an online music platform. Twenty-one students submitted audition recordings. Out of those 21 students, six of them earned chairs in the All-Region Bands. All of these students put in an extensive amount of time and effort to prepare for these auditions. I congratulate all of these students whether they made the All-Region bands or not.”

Students who qualified for the All-Region Bands include:

Symphonic Band: Kaylee Ramos, 1st chair Bass Clarinet; Adriel Bagsic, 1st chair Trumpet; Christopher Sorto, 7th chair Bb Clarinet

Concert Band: Anthony Cabrera, 1st chair Euphonium; Amir Martinez, 2nd chair Tuba; Alondra Ruiz, 10th chair Bb Clarinet
