Mt Pleasant Athletics announced a time change for the freshmen and junior varsity games in Mt Pleasant on Thursday (Oct 5). There is only one freshman game. The ninth-grade starts at 5:00 pm. The junior varsity has a short warm-up and starts after the finish of the ninth grade team.
VOLLEYBALL
The MPJH Lady Tigers hosted the Greenville Middle School Lady Lions on Monday, October 2nd. It was a pretty good evening for the Lady Tigers. The competition opened with the 7th grade B-Team splitting sets and ending in a draw with Greenville. Next, the 8th Grade B-Teams squared off, and the Lady Tigers won convincingly over the Lady Lions in two sets, with neither set being very close on the scoreboard.
As the A-Teams got underway, it was evident that the last two games of the night were going to be very competitive. The 7th grade A-Team dropped the first set but came back in the 2nd to force a 3rd. Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers were unable to finish off their opponent as they lost the last match.
The 8th Grade A-Team contest began similarly to the 7th grade, as the Lady Tigers lost the 1st set but won the 2nd to force a deciding 3rd game. Behind some excellent serving and several vital defensive scrambles, the Lady Tigers were able to hold off Greenville to win an exciting district home game. This outing brings the 8th Grade Lady Tigers’ District record to 2-2. MPJH Volleyball will enjoy a bye next week, and will then finish up their season at Hallsville and then home against Pine Tree.
