A Hopkins County jury sentenced a 31-year-old Mount Pleasant man to 60 years in prison after convicting him of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Evidence in the trial showed that Evans was on parole for bank robbery, delivery of a controlled substance, and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms at the time of the incident. Court documents show that Michael Tareze Evans chased the mother of his child around Celebration Plaza in Sulphur Springs and rammed her car with his SUV several times. He fled the scene before Sulphur Springs Police captured him.
