Four agencies pulled together to take down a suspect with narcotics.
Detectives with the Commerce Police Department were contacted by officers from the Greenville Police Department and the US Postal Inspectors Office in reference to a suspicious package that was delivered to the Greenville post office. The package was believed to contain marijuana and it had a postmark to be delivered to a person with a Commerce address.
Officers were able to set up surveillance and waited until the package was picked up at the Commerce post office. Just minutes before 3:30 p.m., the vehicle left the location and officers made a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officers were able to recover approximately 6.4 ounces of marijuana from the passenger of the vehicle. The 23 year old Commerce resident was taken into custody and has been transported to the Commerce Police Department where he was booked in on a Possession of Marijuana with over 4 ounces but less than 6 pounds charge. The driver of the vehicle was released at the scene with no charges.
