National Police Week Memorial Service

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and Paris Police Department

Sheriff Scott Cass and Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley announced the National Police Week Memorial Service for Lamar County would be Friday (May 18) at 6:00 pm at Bywaters Park in downtown Paris.
We are proud to have Sergeant Bryan Shaw, a police officer with the Dallas County Community College District as the speaker for Friday’s memorial service. Sgt. Shaw survived the deadly attack on police officers in downtown Dallas on July 7, 2016. Sgt. Shaw exchanged gunfire with the suspect and did not realize he had been shot and injured until later in the evening.

A roll call by officers will read each officer’s name killed in the line of duty in Lamar County.

Following the reading of the names of the fallen, there is a 21 gun salute presented along with the playing of taps by the Paris Police Department Honor Guard.

The ceremony will end with a presentation of Amazing Grace on bagpipes by a Texas DPS Honor Guard member, Trooper Joel Hanks and a release of balloons.
