The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations. Two student-athletes from Mount Vernon High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous rulings of the district executive committees. Head Coach Art Briles was in attendance at the meeting.

The Washington Nationals took game one in Houston last night 5-4, for their first, ever, World Series win. Game 2 is tonight at 8:08 pm in Houston and will feature the pitching matchup of Stephen Strasburg vs Justin Verlander. The game is on FOX.
The Denver Broncos traded wide receiver Emmanuel Sauders to the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday. San Francisco sent third- and fourth-round 2020 draft picks to Denver, who also included a 2020 fifth-round pick with Sanders in the deal, which is pending a physical.
The Detroit Lions traded starting safety Quandre Diggs and a 2021 seventh-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2020 fifth-round pick on Tuesday. Diggs had been a starter for the Lions since 2017 at slot cornerback and safety. Over the past two seasons, he had become one of Detroit’s most reliable players in the secondary, along with Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay.
