Nats Win Plus Hamilton Arrested In Today’s Sports

The Washington Nationals are World Series Champions for the first time ever. A pair of clutch home runs in the 7th inning helped clinch the 6-2 win. Stephen Strasburg was named Series MVP after he won Game 6 to keep the Nats alive. It was the first time in the history of the Fall Classic that the road team won all of the games.

Former Texas Rangers’ All-Star Josh Hamilton was arrested Wednesday in Tarrant County, Texas, on suspicion of injury to a child, a third-degree felony. According to an arrest warrant affidavit one of his daughters told authorities that Hamilton became upset about something she said, then threw a water bottle at her, hitting her. The girl told authorities he then pulled a chair out from under her and threw it at her. Hamilton then picked the girl up and carried her to her bedroom, where he held her head down with one hand and hit her legs with another, the girl said. Hamilton was booked and released on a $35,000 bond.

Bengals’ wide receiver A.J. Green was very clear about what he’s looking for in his next contract. And it’s not a one-year franchise tag. “I’m not into a one-year,” Green said on Wednesday. “Give me a long-term (contract) or just let me go.”

LSU defensive end Justin Thomas has left the No. 1 Tigers and withdrawn from school for personal reasons. Thomas had played in five games with one start for LSU this season. He had eight total tackles and one sack. He had not played since the Tigers’ Oct. 12 victory over then-No. 7 Florida, missing the past two games.

Auburn backup quarterback Joey Gatewood has left the team and entered the transfer portal. Gatewood’s departure took place after he met with Auburn coaches. Gatewood and true freshman Bo Nix competed for the starting job throughout the offseason, with Nix ultimately winning it.
