A 20-year-old Northeast Texas man has been sentenced in Bowie County to ten years’ probation after pleading guilty to Intoxication Manslaughter and three counts of Intoxication Assault. Isidro Mariano, of DeKalb, had crashed his car into a tree in January 2016 killing 18-year-old Candace Vernon and injuring three other passengers. Vernon’s family had asked lenience for Mariano and approved of the plea-bargain.
