New Bishop Appointed For Dallas

Pope Francis has named an Alaska bishop to be the new bishop for the Dallas Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. Bishop Edward J. Burns of Juneau, Alaska, will succeed Cardinal Kevin Farrell. The Diocese of Juneau says Farrell left Dallas for a new appointment in Rome.Bishop Burns is the current chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on the Protection of Children and Young People. He also is a member of the bishops’ Subcommittee on Catholic Home Missions and has been a member of their Administrative Committee.
