New Bridge Slated at FM 3390 and Burkhand Branch

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a new bridge would soon be constructed to carry FM 3390 over Burkhand Branch in Red River County.

A temporary one-lane service bridge was placed at that location last year after record rainfall washed out the old bridge-class culvert in November. TxDOT crews mobilized quickly to put the temporary bridge in place.

The contractor, 3LW Management of Mason, Texas, will construct a new bridge and approaches at this site beginning Sept. 15 at an estimated cost of more than $298,000, TxDOT officials said. They anticipate the project will be complete by January 2017, weather permitting. Access to the adjacent property will be maintained at all times while this project is underway.

TxDOT officials emphasized that the temporary one-lane service bridge will remain in place while the contractor constructs a new bridge nearby, but once the new bridge is in place they will remove the temporary bridge. They requested that motorists obey all warning signs and other traffic controls when traveling in this area, and reduce speed when approaching or driving through work zones.
