New DNA Testing Solves 40-Year-Old Murder

A man who was executed in Texas in 1999 for sexually assaulting and murdering an 18-year-old Hawkins High School cheerleader has been identified via DNA as the person who killed a 20-year-old woman in Portland, Oregon, nearly 40 years ago. Jerry McFadden was identified, by using the same new technology, that led to an arrest last year in California in the “Golden State Killer” case.
