New Gun Safety Bill

Negotiators in the Senate have reached a deal on a proposed gun safety bill in the wake of the Uvalde school shooting. Texas Senator John Cornyn managed the discussions between Republicans and Democrats. The senators published the text of their legislation on Tuesday. The “Bipartisan Safer Communities Act” would prevent people with domestic violence from purchasing firearms and boost mental health programs’ funding.
