Next Round of HS Playoffs This Weekend Plus Cowboys Vs Skins Tomorrow

Paris – A shut out in round one and a come from behind win in round two have the Paris Wildcats practicing during the Thanksgiving break. They’ll take on the 11-1, 8th ranked Van Vandals Friday afternoon on 101.9 KBUS. The Wildcats, winners of seven straight, are 9-3 and have qualified for the Regional round of the Texas high school football playoffs for the second time in three seasons. Kickoff on Friday afternoon between Paris and Van at Allen’s Eagle Stadium is set for 1pm.

Mount Pleasant – A pair of solid wins, including a 55-6 route in the area round have the Gilmer Buckeyes practicing during Thanksgiving break for the 10th straight season. They’ll take on the 10-2 Jasper Bulldogs Friday night at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler. The Buckeye’s at 11-1 have won eight straight to qualify for the Regional round of the Texas high school football playoffs. Kickoff on Friday night between Gilmer and Jasper at Rose Stadium is set for 6pm.

Sulphur Springs – Yesterday afternoon the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats pull away in the forth quarter to beat the Paris Lady Cats 53-43. The Lady Cats outscored Paris 26-15 in the final frame to improve to 4-1 on the season. On Monday, the Sulphur Springs boys varsity basketball team defeated Lindale 65-34. They were back in action last night for their first home game of the season at Wildcat gym, winning over Wills Point 60-37.

Last night in the NHL, the leagues new expansion team in Las Vegas announced a team name last night. The Las Vegas Golden Knights will hit the ice in the 2017-2018 season. The 31st team in the NHL has already sold over 14,000 tickets and will be playing at T-Mobile Arena. Team owner, Bill Foley originally played to name the team the Black Knights after the Army, but was met with resistance, settling for the Golden Knights.

Not much changed in the release of the latest college football playoffs polls. Alabama remains at the top, followed by Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson. Washington checks in at number five. Wisconsin, Penn State, Oklahoma, Colorado and Oklahoma State round out the top 10.

And the Dallas Cowboys play their annual Thanksgiving day game against Washington. The Cowboys have won nine straight, led by the NFL’s leading rusher, Ezekiel Elliott with over 1,100 yards. Dallas is fifth in the league in total offense and fifth in points allowed per game. Kick off on Thursday afternoon [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 3:30.
