The North Lamar Choir had a record-breaking day at U.I.L. Solo and Ensemble held in Mt. Pleasant on Friday. Twenty-eight students received a first division medal for their performances on classical solos in English, Latin, and Italian. Seventeen of the students also received a first division medal for their performances on eight-part, four-part, and three-part songs from the Renaissance.
“Yes, that’s a total of forty-five medals!” exclaimed Rebecca Hildreth, director of North Lamar’s sweepstakes award-winning choirs. “Also, each one qualified for a special State Solo and Ensemble Contest and Clinic hosted by the music faculty of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.”
