Students in RaeAnn Ford’s third-grade math class at North Lamar Intermediate kicked off Super Bowl Friday on February 7 with a fun and competitive math showdown!
They divided the class into two teams—the Number Eagles and the Math Chiefs. As they prepared for a game of multiplication football, the students showcased their teamwork and camaraderie. Each student opened an envelope to reveal their team, then hit the field (classroom) for some fast-paced math action!
Throughout the game, students competed in multiplication rounds, with the top five winners earning yards for their team. The goal? Make it to the end zone first! They designed this activity to reinforce students’ understanding of multiplication and enhance their mental math skills. To add even more excitement, each team had two timeouts and opportunities to score field goals—solving double-digit multiplication problems to earn three extra points.
In a thrilling finish, the Number Eagles clinched the victory, mirroring the outcome of the actual Super Bowl, where the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Los estudiantes de la clase de matemáticas de tercer grado de RaeAnn Ford en North Lamar Intermediate comenzaron el Super Bowl el viernes 7 de febrero con un divertido y competitivo enfrentamiento matemático.
Dividieron la clase en dos equipos: los Águilas Numéricas y los Jefes de Matemáticas. Mientras se preparaban para un juego de fútbol de multiplicación, los estudiantes mostraron su trabajo en equipo y camaradería. Cada estudiante abrió un sobre para revelar su equipo, luego salió al campo (salón de clases) para una acción matemática de ritmo rápido.
A lo largo del juego, los estudiantes compitieron en rondas de multiplicación, y los cinco primeros ganadores ganaron yardas para su equipo. ¿El objetivo? ¡Llega primero a la zona de anotación! Diseñaron esta actividad para reforzar la comprensión de los estudiantes sobre la multiplicación y mejorar sus habilidades matemáticas mentales. Para agregar aún más emoción, cada equipo tuvo dos tiempos muertos y oportunidades para anotar goles de campo, resolviendo problemas de multiplicación de dos dígitos para ganar tres puntos extra.
