North Lamar Alumni To Be Inducted Into Abilene Christian University Sports Hall Of Fame

Former North Lamar Panther quarterback, Billy Don Malone, will be inducted into the Abilene Christian University Sports Hall of Fame on October 12 during festivities in the McCaleb Conference Center of the Hunter Welcome Center on the ACU campus.

In 2007 and 2008, Malone, along with other ACU standouts Bernard Scott and Johnny Knox, formed ACU’s version of the “Triplets” and was instrumental in placing the Wildcats among the top offensive teams in the country. Their record for those two seasons was 21 wins to 4 loses, while outscoring their opponents 1,267 to 665 points.

In four seasons, Malone set the career records for ACU’s completions, attempts, yards, and the touchdown passes. His first three records were broken by the man who replaced him, but he still holds the record for career TD passes with 114.

Malone, a 2002 NL graduate, was inducted into North Lamar’s Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. He still holds the Panthers’ passing record.
